After originating within the Foundation for Public Code, the Standard for Public Code is transitioning to be fully managed and maintained by the community. It may eventually become a public product organization.

The community’s great work continues to refine and build upon a time and technology-independent guide that establishes common terminology and methods. The Standard continues to support developers, designers, managers and policy makers in creating collaboratively maintained codebases that are reusable across contexts, with reduced technical debt, more granular control, improved vendor relationships, and a better economic model.

You can read more about it here.
